Before the recent move from Brisbane, I had had a fly by night rendezvous with Sydney. One of the locations that us out-of-towners tend to make the trek to is the infamous Bondi region. These days, while driving along the stretch of inland Bondi Road, you will pass a beautiful looking restaurant on the corner of Denham Street aptly named The Corner House.
Once a stop for the Bondi tram, The Corner House drapes itself in vines and the interior walls are now lined with a glorious selection of wines from around the globe. The low lit restaurant has a bustling yet content atmosphere among the many dining rooms across the restaurant.
The menu is strongly Italian themed, and their execution is nothing short of fantastic.
We were seated in the area deemed The Kitchen, where the menu is predominantly wood-fire pizzas. Each order delivered to the table smelled divine, looked delish, and tasted amazing. The pizzas came with scissors for self controlled portions, but no self control was present at our table when it came to the actual consumption of the meals.
The service was very accommodating. Our visit to The Corner House was unplanned and when we turned up the place was packed, yet they still managed to fit us in with a smile. Orders were taken promptly and food was delivered straight from the oven in reasonable time.
Do yourself a favour, when in Bondi put ‘a visit to The Corner House’ on your to-do-list.
